Hand embroidered wall hanging.
Taking inspiration from the beautiful drawings in the border, I worked around marks of times past, of drinks shared and stories told over the dinner table to breathe something new into this vintage table cloth.
I’ve wanted to go bigger for some time now, and work on something which didn’t have to go behind glass, which hung like fabric should. Think old school tapestry.
As soon as I saw this fabric I knew I wanted to hero the horses in the border. However, I also wanted to set them free from the contained tiled format, and bring some colour and whimsical wildness to them.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working on this piece and excited to know where it will hang one day and what feelings it will evoke. For me it is a piece about freedom from conformity; taking flight, riding off under the light of the moon.
